With loud cheers and encouragements, the teams both in elementary and secondary levels were all concentrated and undeterred by the drizzle and fog enveloping the Benguet Complex field on February 4.

Apayao baseball boys elementary dominated Game 1 against Mt. Province, 13-6.

The Apayao team took the lead in the first two innings but Mt. Province caught up in the 3rd and 4th innings, scoring 3-2. During the 5th inning, both teams tied at 5-5. In the 7th inning, however, Apayao defeated Mt. Province with its 8-1 homeruns.

Though the 6th inning earned Abra 3 homeruns against 2 of Benguet, still the win landed to Benguet, 14-13.

“Our winning is the result of the team’s cooperation and determination to win as well as the good teamwork the players showed,” said Benguet team’s coach Mr. Francis Manis. “Our strength is in our fielding and pitching,” he added.

Game 2 ended at the 6th inning when darkness started to set in, as agreed by both teams.

On the other hand, Game 1 in the baseball boys secondary was played between Abra and Benguet. Abra defeated Benguet with 6-1, scoring only during the 2nd and 3rd inning while Benguet only scored in the 5th inning.

“We feel happy. The team players demonstrated presence of mind and team work during their game. We just need to improve our batting,” said Abra’s coach, Mr. Jaime B. Bersamina.

In Game 2, Apayao also took the lead against Kalinga, 4-2, scoring only during the 3rd and 4th innings, while Kalinga scored only in the 2nd and 5th inning.
