Abra stallions eliminate Tabuk City brewers
Football Elementary – After a heartbreaking defeat from the Mountaineers, the Abra stallions managed to taste their first win against the much taller Tabuk City Brewers, 4-0, at the sandy football field of Pudtol Central School.
Started with both teams’ cheery yells, the game emerged to be a battle of footballers’ stamina. Stallions immediately put pressure to the brewers’ mighty defense and had an own goal credited to them in the early minutes. Dexter Bermudez (16) and Gwenter Balicao (2), stallions’ ace players, became sensational as they outran the brewers’ last line defenders adding 2 more goals.
Tabuk City’s goalkeeper, Angelo Guerrero, felt boosted after the last goal of Balicao and proved his goalkeeping prowess by stopping the numerous goal attempts of the raging stallions. Guerrero put a stop on the bleeding until the end of the first half, 3-0.
Entering in the 2nd half, the brewers still trailed the all-the-way runs and smart passing of the stallions and let Balicao, stallions’ team captain, scored his 2nd goal. The brewers’ toughness lasted and fell to the aggressive stallions.
The stallions advance to their next game while the brewers’ CARAA journey end.
“Okay lang at masaya since it’s their first time participating in the CARAA Meet.”, Mildred Tomaldong, brewers’ coach, said after being asked about the team’s CARAA Meet 2019 experiences.
