“It was a big challenge for SDO-Abra to serve as host division in the biggest sports event in the Cordillera. But like any other battles everyone faces, this one was also successfully conquered because of the collaborative efforts every Abrenio exerted. With these efforts, CARAA in Abra was tagged as the “Best CARAA ever”!
Irene S. Angway, the OIC-SDS of the Schools Division of Abra, bravely accepted the challenge of hosting this big event in spite the fact that it’s her first time to host such. She extended her sincerest thanks to everyone who involved themselves starting from the preparation until to the last day of the event.
She quoted, “Without the full and overwhelming support of the provincial government spearheaded by the governor herself, Hon. Maria Jocelyn V. Bernos, Municipal LGUs, Barangay LGUs, DepEd family, PNP, all other government and non-government agencies, and all private and public organizations, we would not be able to make it. I’m glad that Gov. Joy was there to really look into everything so that Abra will be suited to host the event”.
She also mentioned that she was grateful of the strong working relationships of DepEd and PGA because the preparation on trainings, billeting schools, playing venues and of the improvement of the Abra’s standing in the CARAA were addressed and overcame.
“We had faced many challenges during the preparation but we were able to vanquish them all”, she said. She expressed that one of the greatest challenges Abra faced was the La Paz Blast that happened one week before the CARAA. “It was a challenge because Abra needs to promote peace and order, safety and security and to persuade every delegation that Abra is indeed a safe place especially to those who confirmed non-attendance during the meet. And we succeeded in our promotion because those who backed out eventually came”, she further exclaimed.
She believed that Abra has nailed it because Abra gave a different CARAA experience from the superb grand Opening Program and the majestic Governor’s night until to the very responsive service of the government to all the CARAA needs in the duration of the meet. “It was something that will make Abra the best CARAA ever, leaving a mark every delegate won’t forget. This event opened many doors for Abra especially in showing to the world that Abra is not the Abra people known before”, she stated.
In ending she put into words, “I thanked also all CAR officials and delegations in accepting the challenge in coming to Abra. Abra now is ready to host another bigger sports events because CARAA brought a new image for Abra. Kudos and congratulations to all.”
