CARAA swimming champ Juleana Megara J. Conlu of the Baguio E-lions completed a golden sweep in her 7 swimming events on Feb. 7 at the Abra Sports Complex earning 7 gold medals.
Conlu, a Grade 5 pupil of Saint Louis University Laboratory Elementary School, made Baguio City proud by pocketing 7 gold medals in the CARAA Meet 2018. This victory brought her back again to the Palarong Pambansa. She easily won the 50-m Butterfly in 34 seconds as her best time and clinched as the fastest swimmer. Other events where she earned gold medals were 100-m Backstroke, 4X50-m Medley Relay, 200-m Individual Medley, 50-m Backstroke, 100-m Butterfly and 4X50 Freestyle.
On the other hand, another Baguio E-lions splasher Luis JB C. Balagtey, Grade 5 pupil of the University of the Cordilleras ruled the 50-m Backstroke recording 35.29 as his best time. This record gave him a gold medal in the meet. This one-time Palarong Pambansa, two-time Batang Pinoy and one-time Milo Olympics tanker brought also another 4 gold medals in 200-m Freestyle, 100-m Backstroke, 400-m Medley Relay and 400-m Freestyle. He also gained 2 silver medals in 200-m Medley Relay and 200-m Individual Medley.
The two hopeful champions are now preparing themselves for the Palarong Pambansa which will be held in Vigan City on April 2018.
