Mountain Province secured its first win when its Kadangkadang representatives outran their opponents with their fast and precise manipulation of thier wooden stilts during the CARAA 2017 Opening Program held at the Athletic Bowl, February 4.
The crowd cheered in delight as the boys set off and sprinted with their wooden stilts during the relay. A team member stumbled but still got up to finish the game.
The crowd went louder in cheer when other contestants tried their best to match with Mountain Province in the race but the winners did not allow them until they reached the finish line.
Everyone almost cried in exhilaration when one of player’s “bahag” fell off but wasn’t moved at all and just continued to race and pass the wooden stilts onto the next player.
Kalinga drew close with Mt. Province in second place; Ifugao in third.
Mt. Province team under Coach Nicasia Fakingas of Barlig District were composed of A-ef D. Abiasan, Ronald Agpad, Hans Seigfried Bacali, Oseas W. Marcelo and Vener Mangomoc.
“The boys did their best to finish the game. I am very thankful that we won. I encourage other boys from our district to join this event in the near future.” Coach Fakingas said.
